Pet food recalled after house cat dies

(Gray News) - Northwest Naturals has issued a voluntary recall for some of its cat food after receiving reports of a pet dying.

According to a news release from the company, a batch of Feline Turkey Recipe raw frozen pet food tested positive for the bird flu virus (HPAI).

Agriculture officials in Oregon said that led to the death of a house cat.

The recalled food is packaged in 2-pound plastic bags with "Best if used by" dates of 05/21/26 B10 and 06/23/2026 B1.

The product was sold through distributors in AZ, CA, CO, FL, GA, IL, MD, MI, MN, PA, RI and WA in the United States, and British Columbia in Canada.

Anyone who purchased the cat food should throw it away and contact the place of purchase for a full refund.

Eating raw or uncooked pet food contaminated with HPAI can cause illness in animals.
