Bobcat sneaks into home, ignores 'high-tech trick' to get it out

DENVER (KDVR) - Deputies in Jefferson County, Colorado, had to deal with a rare intruder last week that seemingly ignored their "high-tech tricks" to get it out.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office posted a video after a bobcat wandered into a Ken Caryl home and sat behind the television. The video from one deputy's body camera showed deputies arriving at the home on May 22, and a woman greeted them by pointing out the bobcat sitting in the living room.

Deputies tried using the green lasers on their TASERs, as one deputy said in the footage, "I don't know, cats like lasers," hoping the bobcat would come out of its hiding spot. However, the sheriff's office said the bobcat wasn't interested, and it eventually left "on its own terms."

"It left at its own pace, right out the open back door. Guess some intruders just aren't dazzled by our high-tech tricks," said the sheriff's office in a post on X.

According to Colorado Parks and Wildlife, bobcats are widespread across the state, but they are a secretive animal that's rarely seen. They mainly stay in the foothills, canyons, mesas, and plateaus -- not usually people's homes.
