WASHINGTON (TNND) -- While speaking at a pro-labor union event on Monday, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) feed into the speculations that President Donald Trump may be dead.
President Donald Trump kept a low profile over Labor Day weekend, participating in private interviews, playing golf and making a slew of posts to Truth Social. However, his last public appearance before Tuesday was six days prior -- sparking rumors that the Commander in Chief was either sick or even dead.
Over the weekend, the phrase "Trump is Dead" began trending on X with over 158,000 posts which included the phrase.
Walz didn't directly name the rumor that Trump had died during his speech on at the Labor Day picnic, but he did say that the last few days on social media have led him and many others to believe that there may be major "news."
"I will say this, the last few days, you woke up thinking there might be news," Walz said while mimicking Trump's hand gestures. "Just saying, just saying. There will be news sometime. Just so you know there will be news."
Rep. Tom Emmer (R-MN), who serves as the House Majority Whip, shared his disappointment with Walz's insinuations of the rumors dominating the internet that Trump had passed away.
"@Tim_Walz, mocking President Trump's health is a new low, even for you," Emmer wrote on X with the video of Walz' comments embedded in the post. "Wishing ill on others doesn't make you a leader -- it makes you small. Minnesotans deserve better."
Meanwhile, Trump, the oldest president to be sworn into office, addressed the rumors that he died on Tuesday.
"I was very active over the weekend," Trump said. "I went out to visit some people at the club that I own pretty nearby on the Potomac River. No, I've been very active, actually."
"You wouldn't see him (Biden) and nobody ever said there was ever anything wrong with him," Trump continued. "And we know he wasn't in the greatest of shape."
