Mizzou defensive end Zion Young led the way in the 23-17 double-overtime win at Auburn
The Missouri Tigers suffered their first loss of the season at home vs Alabama last weekend in a 27-24 defeat to the Crimson Tide. In the loss, Zion Young had some costly penalties in the Crimson Tide opening drive which changed the momentum of the game.
Having said that, the senior defensive captain responded in a huge way in their first road game of the season -- which resulted in a much-needed win to keep their College Football Playoff hopes alive entering the second-half stretch of the season.
Zion Young tops the list in our latest MV3 in the 23-17 double-overtime road win over Auburn.
Zion Young delivered for the Mizzou defense and came up clutch when it mattered the most. From Matthew Gustafson:
Saturday night's performance was the best of the season for Young, who already earned SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week once in 2025 and has a strong case to earn a second accolade this week.
On the box score, Young contributed for five total tackles with two sacks and 2.5 TFLs. This play sealed the deal.
It was safe to say that he was hyped up for overtime.
2. Josiah Trotter
The Mizzou defense ruled the night in the 23-17 double-overtime win. Coming in at No. 2 in our latest MV3 is linebacker Josiah Trotter.
Trotter led the team with eight total tackles and a timely sack near the end of the first half to keep Mizzou at a 10-7 lead.
The transfer from West Virginia has shown why he was the Big 12 Freshman Defensive Player of the Year last season. There's also a huge reason why he's on the Lombardi Award Midseason Watch List.
3. Ahmad Hardy
Ahmad Hardy's yardage production has decreased over these last two games, but that's what's going to happen when having to play tough defenses.
It wasn't an efficient night for Hardy with 24 carries and only 58 yards. But in the end, he found the endzone twice in clutch moments -- giving Mizzou a 10-7 lead in the 2nd quarter and tied the game at 17 with five minutes left in the game.
It wasn't pretty, but a win is a win -- especially in an SEC road night game. Who is your MV3 from Saturday night's win at Auburn? Let us know in the comments!
