WATERFORD -- For a second straight year, the Northville boys' soccer team is the Section 2 Class D champion, with a 7-0 victory over Middleburgh in the title game on Monday night at Waterford-Halfmoon High School.
Senior Braydn Bovee and sophomore McQuade Klippel each had hat tricks. All three of Bovee's goals were scored on assists by Klippel, first in the 20th minute to open the scoring, next in the 39th minute to make it 3-0, and then 11 minutes into the second half to increase the lead to 4-0.
Klippel scored twice unassisted, with the other coming on a pass from sophomore Logan Hammons to bring the advantage to 6-0 with 15 minutes to go. The other goal was scored by Hammons on an assist by Klippel with nine minutes remaining in the game.
The Falcons outshot the Knights 16-3 on Monday. Northville junior goalkeeper Joey Capobianco had two saves, while Middleburgh sophomore Robbie Narzymski recorded eight.
The game was a rematch of a Western Athletic Conference contest on Sept. 11 which Northville won 4-0. The Falcons have outscored teams 19-0 across their three postseason matchups so far.
With the result, Northville, now 17-2, will face Section 7's Chazy in a regional championship matchup on Saturday. Middleburgh ended its season 8-7-4.
