YouTube TV on Thursday announced that Disney's networks, including ESPN and ABC, will be pulled from the Google platform after the two companies failed to reach a new licensing deal.
Fubo and NBCUniversal launched the latest spat over streaming fees after the latter's channels were pulled from the streaming service on Nov. 21 following a failed agreement.
In a Nov. 25 statement, Fubo called NBCUniversal's demands "discriminatory" and claimed that the network wanted to add non-sports channels that the streaming platform said would drive up costs. Fubo added that it wants to integrate Peacock, NBCUniversal's streaming service, directly into its platform.
"They allowed YouTube TV and Amazon Prime Video to integrate Peacock directly into their channel store, but refused to give Fubo the same rights," Fubo said.
NBCUniversal said in a response to USA TODAY that it offered fair rates and terms during negotiations and pointed to 10 other instances since 2020 in which networks have pulled their content from Fubo.
"Fubo has chosen to drop NBCUniversal programming despite being offered the same terms agreed to by hundreds of other distributors," the media giant said. "Unfortunately, this is par for the course for Fubo -- they've dropped numerous networks in recent years at the expense of their customers, who continue to lose content."
Here's what to know about the dispute between Fubo and NBCUniversal.
Fubo offers credit during NBCUniversal spat
Fubo stated on an information page that it will offer customers a credit "if the blackout continues."
The streamer will provide a $15 credit during a customer's next billing cycle. The credit will be automatically applied to the account starting on or after Dec. 1.
