Cloud cover has built back into the Sunflower State this afternoon, and a few spotty showers have popped up this evening. Rain chances will increase overnight with temperatures ranging from the 40s to the 60s by daybreak tomorrow.
A few storms could become severe at times with large hail and strong winds as the main concerns. A Marginal Risk for severe weather is in place for a large portion of the state tonight, with a slight risk over parts of southcentral Kansas along the Oklahoma state line.
It will be a similar story to last night, with storms becoming widespread during the early morning hours on Sunday. Heavy rain will track through the region, adding to our rainfall tally. Some may wake up to thunder and lightning overnight.
Temperatures will be cooler for the rest of the holiday weekend with highs in the 60s and multiple rounds of showers and storms.
A few spotty showers will linger through sunrise tomorrow, but Sunday will be a rerun of today. There will be a break from rain chances in the afternoon before activity ramps back up again Sunday night into Memorial Day.
Parts of southern Kansas are at marginal risk, as storms could be severe at times with the next round of moisture arriving in the region.
Rainfall will be especially heavy at times, becoming widespread across the southern half of the state late Sunday evening and continuing into Monday morning.
The highest totals will be concentrated in southeastern Kansas, but southcentral Kansas will also see some significant rainfall.
Scattered showers and storms linger into Monday, keeping temperatures cool in the 50s and 60s for the end of the holiday weekend.
A few rainy rumbles could be on the stronger side along the state line in southcentral Kansas.
A Flood Watch remains in effect for Harvey, Sedgwick, Butler, Cowley, Elk, and Chautauqua counties through 7 PM Monday.
With multiple rounds of rainfall moving over the same areas of the state, some places in Kansas could see over 2'' of rainfall over the next five days.
A quick push of energy will bring another shot of moisture to the region Wednesday night into Thursday.
Temperatures gradually recover as we move closer next weekend, despite the chance for a few scattered storms during the middle of the week.
