WASHINGTON (7News) -- D.C. was ranked the ninth safest city for pedestrians this week, according to KURU Footwear's new report.
The "Safest & Most Dangerous Cities for Pedestrians in 2025" report revealed the District had 2.95 pedestrian deaths per 100,000 people. D.C. also had a "Walk Score" of 98. The report noted that the dense urban planning and extensive transit systems enhanced pedestrian safety.

The Northeast region of the U.S. leads in pedestrian safety, with cities like Boston, New York, and Philadelphia combining low pedestrian death rates with strong walkability. Milwaukee stands out with the lowest pedestrian fatality rate overall, at just 0.93 deaths per 100,000 people.
Nashville, Louisville and D.C. achieved the highest Walk Scores among the top 10 cities, each scoring over 96.

Cities in the South and Southwest, such as Albuquerque, Jacksonville and Las Vegas, ranked among the most dangerous places for pedestrians. Albuquerque had the highest rate of deadly pedestrian accidents in 2025, with 4.68 per 100,000 people.
