MISHAWAKA, Ind. (WSBT) -- Penn Township Fire is celebrating a project two years in the making!
They introduced two new pieces of equipment Thursday evening.
The department announced a new clipper fully equipped with fire suppression, rescue, and advanced life-support medical equipment.
They also added a new utility vehicle, a Polaris Ranger, that'll be used as a transport vehicle in areas that are hard to reach.
"We have areas of our response district that we can't get a full-size piece of apparatus back to. A lot of fields we would utilize this piece of apparatus, so on a field fire that may be in the middle of a cornfield but we couldn't reach with an apparatus and trying to carry water cans or stretch enough hose to reach those areas would be nearly impossible," said Fire Chief Michael Gerndt, Penn Township Fire Department
The fire engine is a replacement of their previous engine, Squad 13.
