LOWRY CITY, Mo. -- A Springfield man has been charged following a stabbing on Saturday, August 30.
According to online court dockets, Ronald Voss II, born 1981, has been charged with two counts of attempted first-degree assault - serious physical injury or special victim and two counts of armed criminal action.
The probable cause statement says that the St. Clair County Sheriff's Office responded to a reported assault in Lowry City.
Law enforcement spoke to a victim who stated that he and his friend were giving a ride to Voss to Springfield, whom they had just recently met. The statement says that Voss was sitting in the backseat while the two victims were in the front seats.
The victim decided to pull over due to being tired and needing to walk around for a moment. Voss was then reported to be feeling "paranoid," believing the victim had pulled over to call the police to arrest him.
The statement says Voss grabbed a knife and stabbed one of the victims on the left side of their neck and then swung the knife at the first victim, stabbing them on the top of their right forearm.
Voss grabbed one of the victim's backpacks and ran away from the scene.
Police found a large amount of blood on the driver's seat, the middle console and on a pillow in the backseat.
Voss told law enforcement in a post-Miranda Warning that he stabbed the two victims because they had pulled a gun on him and were laughing.
One victim was life-flighted to Research Medical Center in Kansas City and the other was taken to Golden Valley Hospital in Clinton, Missouri.
Voss is currently in the St. Clair County Jail and is scheduled for initial appearance on Sept. 3, 2025.
