Enoch Afoakwa , the Legal Counsel for LPG founder Kofi Akpaloo, has disclosed that the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has yet to formally charge Akpaloo following his arrest.
Providing an update on the matter on Adom FM on Thursday, September 4, 2025, Afoakwa stated that although his client has not been charged, he has been cautioned in relation to offences currently under investigation by the law enforcement agency.

"He has not been formally charged but has been cautioned on some offences they are investigating," he said.
Afoakwa stated that Akpaloo's case involves a civil commercial dispute that is currently under investigation by EOCO.
He added that the matter is also being pursued before the Commercial Division of the High Court in Accra.
Afoakwa refuted claims that Akpaloo's wife was also arrested.
"... It centers on a civil commercial dispute which I'm handling parts of and on behalf of Kofi Akpaloo before the High Court's Commercial Division in Accra. It is the same case EOCO is investigating.
"It centers on a civil commercial dispute between a private engagement he undertook. His wife isn't part of the case but only Akpaloo who is currently in the custody of EOCO," he added.
EOCO reportedly arrested Kofi Akpaloo, a presidential candidate in the 2024 election and leader of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG).
According to an earlier report by citinewsroom.com, he was picked up from his home in Kumasi.

Meanwhile, EOCO has yet to release an official public statement regarding the arrest and the circumstances surrounding the investigation of the politician.
