Academy chain with schools in Bradford district brings another school under its wing

A school is set to become part of a chain of academies after a transfer agreement was reached.

Talbot Primary School in Roundhay is expected to join Moorlands Learning Trust (MLT) from November 1.

A Leeds City Council report said a Commercial Transfer Agreement was in place between the trust and the East Moor Road school.

It will see the school's staff and buildings transferred to MLT.

The report said: "The local authority has a duty to promote high standards and champion educational excellence.

"The proposed conversion date is November 1, or such later date as advised by the Department for Education."

MLT already runs schools in Bradford district, including Ilkley and Keighley, as well as schools in North Yorkshire locations such as Skipton, Harrogate,

The organisation said on its website: "Put simply, our goal is to enable every student within our care, from whatever background and starting point, to receive an exceptional education and achieve their very best."

Talbot Primary was last inspected by Ofsted in March 2023 and rated "outstanding" in all areas.

Publicly funded schools in England can become academies under legislation introduced in 2010.
