REDDING, Calif. -- A Redding man was rescued Thursday morning after becoming stranded on the Sacramento River overnight.
According to police, officers respodned to a report of a man stranded along the Sacramento River near the South Bonnyview Boat Ramp just before 7 a.m. They said the man floated from the Cypress Street Bridge area and was found on the riverbank after spending the night there.
The Redding Police Department's boat crew was dispatched to the scene and successfully retrieved the man, transporting him to a local hospital as a precaution.
Police remind the public of the importance of understanding the conditions of the Sacramento River before entering. They strongly advise against entering the river without a life vest or personal flotation device.
