Dumper hits bike, motorcyclist killed; mob attacks Dumper Association head

A young motorcyclist was killed and his wife injured after being hit by a dumper truck in Karachi. Following the incident, when Dumper Association head Liaquat Mehsud arrived at the scene, the public pelted his vehicle with stones, prompting his guard to fire warning shots in the air.

According to details, the accident occurred on Nishtar Road in Karachi's Ramswami area, where a young motorcyclist lost his life after being struck by a dumper. Rescue officials said the deceased was identified as 24-year-old Shahzaib.

Rescue sources added that the deceased, a resident of Garden, had been married four months ago and worked in the cloth business. After the accident, Dumper Association leader Liaquat Mehsud arrived at the scene with his guard, upon which enraged citizens surrounded his vehicle and began pelting it with stones.

The angry mob even attempted to set Liaquat Mehsud's vehicle on fire. In response, the guard fired aerial shots, while Mehsud managed to leave the scene. A large police contingent later arrived at the site, dispersing the crowd.

Dumper Association President Liaquat Mehsud released a video statement saying he was informed about the accident at midnight. "I called the SSP and requested that maximum personnel be deployed. The SHO then phoned me and asked me to come so that legal formalities could be completed," he said.

Mehsud added, "I went to the spot with 20 to 25 members of the association and gave my statement, assuring that I stand with the victim's family. Around two to two and a half thousand people gathered there and attempted to assassinate me."
