Sunnylands Center and Gardens will resume its outdoor movie series next month following a four-month summer hiatus, offering films inspired by its new exhibition, "Curating Canopy: Trees at Sunnylands."
The supernatural-themed series, titled "Tales Beneath the Trees," will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Sept.12, 19 and 26 at 37977 Bob Hope Drive.
Screenings will feature "Poltergeist," "Sleepy Hollow" and "Pan's Labyrinth," rated PG or R, organizers said.
Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets and small picnics. However, smoking, large coolers, pets and alcohol will not be permitted.
"While the new exhibition explores the variety of trees that have helped shape the Sunnylands landscape for nearly 60 years, the film series showcases movies in which trees play a role in the story," according to statement by Sunnylands officials.
The "Films in the Gardens" program will be presented in collaboration with the Palm Springs International Film Festival.
