Seems Steve Friebel would throw out all newer translations of the Bible since he doesn't believe in modern English equivalency by saying the word "tourist" originated around 1700, thus inferring it can't be used to translate an ancient Hebrew concept of caring for temporary visitors to the land of Israel ("Bible interpretation continues," Our Readers' Views, Aug. 21.)
It also seems Friebel has a lopsided view of "love" and has forgotten about true justice and punishments against lawbreakers. By him saying we are supposedly to "love" all people I wonder if Friebel "loves" Bryan Kohberger, yet the Old Testament commands certain criminals to be stoned to death. The New Testament declared God hated Esau in Romans 9:13. Even the Apostle Paul kicked out a man who raped his father's wife from participating in church.
We are to hate evil and do something about it. The law is for the lawless (the immoral, murderers, rapists, thieves, etc.) who will have their punishments either here on Earth or on the Final Day of Eternal Judgment. Best practice is to reward law-abiding citizens and to punish those who have no regard for the laws of our country or of human life. Illegal immigrants are illegally in our country. Safe streets give peace.
