A man has been jailed for the "savage" murder of his wife's grandmother.
June Henty died on June 14, 2024, six months after she was attacked by her granddaughter's husband Adam Wright.
Wright, 39, of Grovers Field, Bishop's Waltham, pleaded guilty to murder and was jailed for life at Portsmouth Crown Court yesterday.
You went to June Henty's home address. You told her that Laura Wright, your wife and her granddaughter, had kicked you out.
This was untrue but it formed the pretext for you to gain entry to June Henty's house. Once inside you brutally attacked her with a knife and another weapon.
At 7.35am her daughter Karen and son-in-law David arrived at her house. Karen noticed the house was in virtual darkness which was unusual.
The back door was unlocked and June Henty's keys were in the lock inside. Once inside, Karen went to the hallway and described what she saw as June Henty 'laying at the stairs covered in blood'.
Her bottom half was naked and she was described as being in the recovery position. Her face and hair was covered in blood, and her whole right side was covered in blood. Karen said she "appeared unrecognisable".

June Henty was still alive and conscious. Her mouth was so slashed...but she said "Adam" twice [when Karen asked who did this].
Paramedic Selena Williams spoke to June Henty who told her: "He was trying to kill me".
She added it happened around 7am. Selena Williams noted that June Henty was "alert and conscious throughout her assessment".
She was taken to the Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth and was spoken to by a police officer that morning. June Henty told police: "I tried to talk to him and then suddenly he tried to kill me."
She was in surgery for four and a half hours on December 24, 2023.
You took the knife to the scene with a requisite intention. June Henty was particularly vulnerable because of her age; she was 77 when she was attacked by you in her home.
She was attacked with a knife and she was unarmed. The violence clearly demonstrates you used excessive and sustained force against her.
You put a weapon, a key, through her right eye which passed into her brain.
I find that June Henty was particularly vulnerable due to her age and circumstances. This included a deliberate act of degradation.
