OGDEN, Utah (ABC4) -- A man was arrested after he allegedly fired a gun into an Ogden bar and struck a patron inside, according to documents.
Carlos Mendez, 40, was arrested on two counts of felony discharge of a firearm, one count of possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person, and one count of property damage/destruction causing a loss of $1500 to $4999.
According to an affidavit of probable cause, Mendez went into the bar around 9 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 20, sat at the bar, and stared at another man inside. After some time, Mendez left the building, and documents said he reportedly asked the bar's staff to turn off the cameras.
Mendez stayed outside and looked through the front window of the bar before shots were fired, documents said.
"A few minutes later, it is reported that a suspect opens the back door, and fires 2 rounds into the bar, striking the victim that [Mendez] is seen staring at in footage," the affidavit reads.
Documents said the suspect ran out of the back of the bar and broke through a wooden fence. Officials recovered two .22 shell casings at the scene, and said the suspect was described to be wearing the same clothing Mendez was seen wearing in the footage.
Mendez was located at a gas station and was arrested just before 3 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 21. He was booked into the Weber County Jail on the aforementioned charges.
