Illinois' Best Pizza Slice Might Surprise You

Sometimes you can't eat a whole pizza. I mean, most of the time, you shouldn't, but there have been plenty of times where I have legit been in the mood to not share and just tried to eat the whole thing because it is just too good.

Then there are times when you are trying to impress a date, a boss, or a client, and you don't want to go overboard, so you settle for ordering just a slice of pie; that's when you'd grab just one piece. That's where this story from Sara Ventiera from Food Network comes in. She ranked all 50 States of Pizza Slices and said that if we're going to eat one slice of pizza from one place in all of Illinois, it better be at this place.

The family behind Pie-Eyed Pizzeria has combined their love of guitar riffs and great slices at this Chicago River West spot...Their Black Sabbath Pizza and Red Hot Chili Pie have both been featured on local news segments. And one of their best-sellers was dedicated to Gwar when the band headlined Riot Fest. This amped-up take on a typical supreme pizza features hot soppressata, applewood-smoked bacon, Italian sausage, pepperoni, red bell peppers and extra sauce.

With only a 3.5 out of 5 on Yelp, it's a surprise to see it named the best place for a slice in all of Illinois. Reviews were mixed too, with some saying "It's just really overpriced," but others say the food at Pie-Eyed "didn't disappoint."
