Suspect identified in Tuesday officer-involved shooting on Colorado Springs' east side

Law enforcement has identified the suspect in Tuesday's officer-involved shooting in eastern Colorado Springs as 43-year-old Kari Anstett.

The shooting was reported in the 5600 block of Buckskin Pass Drive, near North Powers Boulevard and South Carefree Circle. Colorado Springs police officers were dispatched to the area around 3 p.m. after a caller stated his ex-girlfriend was at the residence "ringing the doorbell and excessively knocking."

Anstett was shot by police after allegedly pointing a firearm at officers, but her injuries were non-life-threatening.

She is now in custody on four no-bond warrants for violation of a restraining order. Law enforcement anticipates with further investigation, more charges will follow.

Anstett is slotted next for a virtual hearing on advisement Friday with the 4th Judicial District.

In accordance with Colorado Revised Statues 16-2.5-301 and the Forth Judicial District Deadly Force Investigation Memorandum of Understanding, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office has assumed the investigation.
