Governor Kathy Hochul visited Crossgates Mall to address concerns about affordability and announced a proposal aimed at providing financial relief to families.
Hochul said,
To those here shopping, what's very much on their minds is affordability. I'm out here giving people information about how we're putting money back in their pockets.
Hochul proposed an additional $3 billion collected in sales tax due to inflation to provide rebates ranging from $300 to $500 per family. She followed this saying,
I'm excited about it. People here really want this to happen. So we want to get it done.
