Sonic The Hedgehog 3 Dominates US Box Office

Fans were truly curious about what Sonic The Hedgehog 3 would do in theaters for multiple reasons. First, there was the question of whether the live-action film's quality would hold (Hint: It did.) Second, there was the question of the adaptation of Shadow the Hedgehog's story and whether it would translate well to movie form (Hint: It did, and everyone loves Keanu as Shadow.) Finally, it was going up against arguably some big competition via the Mufasa prequel from Disney. Thus, there was a "battle" to be had at the box office. Yet, Sonic and Shadow came out on top.

As noted by Variety, Sonic The Hedgehog 3 made $62 million during its opening weekend in the US. Now, to be clear, that makes it the #1 movie in the US, but not the world, as it hasn't been released internationally yet. It'll go global on Christmas Day.

Arguably, the best piece of news about this is that Paramount's decision to greenlight Sonic 4 was well-founded. So, if you want to know who will show up in the next movie, we do have a spoiler-filled post breaking it all down...
