Dior has the viral makeup thing all figured out. The brand's beloved Lip Glow Oil and buzzy Forever Skin Foundation Stick are internet favorites, and their latest drops -- two blushes and the cutest lip gloss, all a part of the brand's Backstage Collection -- are about to be the same. Team Cosmo got an early preview of the new launches and has been busy testing them for the past month, and now that they're available to shop, we can finally share our reviews. Keep scrolling for a full rundown of the new Dior Addict Lip Glow Butter, Backstage Rosy Glow Powder Blush, and Backstage Rosy Glow Stick Blush -- including what we love about them, how we've been using them, notes on the shade ranges, and more.
I first learned about the collection via a Zoom call with Peter Philips, Christian Dior Makeup's creative and image director. He described it as "cute, playful, and yummy," which are three words I don't typically associate with Dior as a brand, but he is totally right in using them here. Visually, the blushes and lip balm have a joyfulness about them, and the shade range feels candy-inspired, so yummy vibes are happening as well. The Lip Glow Butter and Rosy Glow Blushes are intended to "seduce a new Dior customer" and definitely cater to Gen Z (maybe even Gen Alpha?) but don't feel so young that my 33-year-old self isn't excited to use them.
As for the specific products, the Lip Glow Butter -- a new addition to the beloved Lip Glow franchise -- is my favorite for sure. You know how everyone who was anyone was toting around a Lancôme Juicy Tube in the early 2000s? I predict that's what happens with charm-adorned Lip Glow Butter. It's not just makeup; it's an accessory that will come to define an era, along with baggy jeans, white t-shirts, sleek buns, and colorful Sambas.
I also really like the Rosy Glow Blush Stick for the convenience factor. I'm all about makeup that requires little to no effort to look good, and the Rosy Glow Blush Stick is so easy to dab on and blend out with fingers for a quick flush. I'm wearing the shade "Candy" on my cheeks in the pics above, which is honestly the most flattering peachy pink with a hint of shimmer for a subtle highlighting effect.
At this point in my career, I've tested every single designer beauty brand, and Dior is my favorite. Everything I've tried, I've genuinely liked -- and this summer collection is no exception. The blush sticks are my favorite. I tested a mix of shades: The lilac I'm holding in the selfie above -- called Pink Lilac -- didn't seem like it would be right for my medium complexion at first glance, but it actually blends out into a gorgeous bright purplish pink that leaves my skin so fresh looking. But my faves are definitely Rosewood and Cherry, which look great on their own but pair beautifully together for an ombré blush effect (see it in action above). I really love the original Backstage Rosy Glow Blushes because they are somewhat sheer upon first application but can be built up for a lot stronger pigment. And same goes for these -- just with a hella dewy finish. These aren't shimmery though. Instead, they offer up a healthy-looking sheen that doesn't highlight any rough or uneven skin texture.
Dior also reimagined their classic Addict Lip Glow Lip Balm into this extremely buttery version. It's similar to all the other tube lip balms we love (see: Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm or Laneige Lip Glowy Balm) -- just in a hyper-luxe tube with a "Dior" charm hanging from it. I couldn't look chicer when I pull this out of my bag. And the product inside the tube is fantastic. It's got the same minty, vanilla-esque scent of the Lip Glow Balm but with a much glossier finish. It's a lot more hydrating too. I've been wearing Glazed Lavender (with a lip liner for some dimension) nonstop.
Ever since I tried the Lip Glow Oil and baby-pink powder blush that went viral on TikTok during the pandemic, I've been a Dior makeup convert. So I was so stoked to see this new and upgraded line. The first thing that struck me about the new launches is the packaging. The keychain with the Dior logo on the Lip Butter is SO cute and feels like a mini luxury accessory. It's been clipped to my coin wallet ever since I got it, and it's just so convenient to always have my lip product, keys, and cards in one place. And I also love the upgraded packaging on the powder blush and the chicness of the cream blushes.
As for the actual formula, the Lip Glow Butter is truly the most pigmented lip balm that I've used in a looong time. It's so glassy and packed with color that you don't need to layer a bunch of products just to get the lip you want -- it's all in this formula. And I have not stopped using the cream blush for the last month, specifically the pink shade. It gives me dewy cheeks and that coveted Sabrina Carpenter 'babydoll' glam. And I love layering the cream blush with the pink powder blush for a full glam moment or super-flushed look. Even though it's luxury makeup, it still feels accessible, modern, and the formulas have amazing color payoff. I can't tell you how many $50 blushes I've tried that don't even transfer onto the brush I'm using.
