Newcastle United ahead of Jose Mourinho in Serie A striker race

Newcastle United, who are chasing Juventus striker Dusan Vlahović, could face stiff competition from Turkish giants Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray, as reported by JuveFC.com.

Vlahović, 25, who joined Juventus from Fiorentina in January 2022 for a whopping €80 million[$90m] hasn't matched expectations after two and a half seasons in Turin.

His spell at Serie A side has been plagued with injuries, tactical changes, and inconsistent form.

While he has scored 28 Serie A goals in 76 league games, a decent return, but not one justifying his hefty wages.

With just 12 months left on his deal, Juventus are weighing up options. Sources in La Gazzetta dello Sport confirm that new sporting director Damien Comolli will decide Vlahović's fate.

The club wants to renegotiate his contract to spread costs, but Vlahović and his camp have pushed back. That opens the door for a summer exit.

Newcastle, needing a physical, goal-scoring No. 9 with Champions League ambitions, sees Vlahovic as a perfect fit. Their improved PSR position makes them serious contenders. But they face stiff competition from Turkey.

Fenerbahçe, fresh off another second-place league finish, are desperate, as new boss Jose Mourinho wants a marquee striker after losing Edin Dzeko.

Galatasaray are also circling with Victor Osimhen's loan spell ending.

Still, Newcastle's Premier League appeal, financial edge, and long-standing interest give them the upper hand -- for now.

Newcastle United are also eyeing another striker from Serie A. As reported by TBR Football via The Hard Tackle, the Magpies are considering a move for England international Tammy Abraham.

The former Chelsea forward is expected to be available this summer, as Abraham, who spent the 2024-25 season on loan at AC Milan, is set to leave AS Roma.

Despite showing flashes of form in Serie A, the 27-year-old has been labeled surplus to requirements under Claudio Ranieri evolving plans. If a deal aligns, Roma are prepared to let him go.
