KEY LARGO, Fla. (CBS12) -- A boy was reportedly bitten by a shark on Monday off the coast of Key Largo.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office (MCSO), the bite happened around 3:24 p.m. on the Atlantic Ocean side.
Deputies say Trauma Star airlifted the boy to Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami for treatment.

The last reported shark attack in Monroe County happened in July of 2024, when a spearfisher was bitten by a shark off the nearby coast of Key West.
The U.S. Coast Guard and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission were notified of the incident.
