Japanese comedian breaks leg while filming year-end TV special

TOKYO -- Shohei Osada, one half of the comedy duo Chocolate Planet, broke his left foot while filming a TV program, Tokyo Broadcasting System Television Inc. (TBS) announced Oct. 26.

TBS said Osada had injured himself earlier that day after trying to jump to a log-like obstacle while participating in the sports variety show, "SASUKE Ninja Warrior 2025," which is planned for broadcast at the end of the year. Filming was taking place at TBS's Midoriyama Studio in Yokohama's Aoba Ward. Osada is expected to need three months to fully recover.

In a statement, TBS said, "We sincerely apologize for the injury and extend our heartfelt sympathies. We will continue to ensure rigorous safety measures in the production of our programs."
