A woman was transported to an area hospital via LifeStar after she fell through the ice on Bolton Lake in Vernon on Christmas morning.
The Vernon Police Department received a call of a person in Bolton Lake around 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, according to Lt. Robert Marra.
Vernon police officers, firefighters and emergency medical technicians responded to the area of 55 Lynwood Dr. and located a woman in her 50s who had fallen through the ice, Marra said.
Life-saving measures were performed on the scene, according to Marra. A LifeStar helicopter was requested and used to transport the woman to Hartford Hospital for treatment.
The incident is under investigation, Marra said.
Marra reminded residents to use caution when going out on ice.
"Ice is never 100% safe," Marra said. "Please consult with CT Department of Energy and Environmental Protection guidelines for further recommendations regarding ice safety."
