TN Governor Lee kicks off Christmas at the Capitol, announces "Light of the World" holiday

Tennessee Governor Bill Lee and First Lady Maria Lee kicked off the holiday season Monday with the annual Christmas at the Capitol celebration, complete with the state Christmas tree lighting and the announcement of this year's "Light of the World" tours at the Tennessee Residence.

Governor Lee said the season is a time to reflect and give back.

"Maria and I look forward to continuing the Tennessee tradition of generosity throughout the holiday season," Lee said. "We invite Tennesseans to join us in giving back as we reflect on our many blessings and prepare our hearts to receive the ultimate gift, the birth of Christ."

This year's Christmas at the Capitol event included performances by The King's Academy Choir, the 129th Army Band, and a visit from Santa.

The exterior Norway spruce tree was donated by Tex and Cori Cook of Greenbrier, while interior trees came from Ward Grove Christmas Tree Farm in Beech Bluff and Big Sky Farm in Portland.

The Tennessee Residence will open its doors for free, self-guided Christmas tours December 5-7 and December 12-14. This year's décor theme, "Light of the World," draws from Tennessee's spiritual roots and Southern hospitality, incorporating natural and scriptural elements meant to reflect the majesty of Jesus.

All tours are self-guided and free to the public. Reservations are required and can be made here.
