A downtown Tulsa gallery is turning the first weekend of December into a celebration of local art and holiday cheer. WV Art Advisory, in partnership with Masterwork Studios, is hosting two community-focused events designed to showcase Oklahoma artists, support local vendors and invite families into the city's creative scene.
The weekend begins with Southern Realism, a First Friday gallery opening on Dec. 5 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Masterwork Studios, 36 N. Guthrie Ave. The exhibit highlights the work of Oklahoma artists Harriet Derrevere, Taylor Hoffer, Cody Jensen and Andrew Nimick. Jensen will also debut two limited-edition photography books during the event.
Visitors can expect a range of artwork exploring Southern landscapes, culture and storytelling through detailed, realistic pieces. Organizers say the show offers an approachable entry point for art enthusiasts, collectors and anyone curious about the region's creative voices.
The festivities continue Sunday, Dec. 7, when the gallery transforms into a Christmas Market from 1 to 5 p.m. Local vendors will offer handmade gifts ranging from pottery and prints to crochet items, 3D creations, jewelry and more. Attendees can enjoy hot cocoa, live caroling by singer Casii Stephan and Masterwork Academy students, and a family-friendly holiday atmosphere.
"Creating local events where people can experience the art community is integral to community development," said Laura Voth, co-owner of WV Art Advisory and longtime advocate for accessible arts programming in Tulsa.
Voth and her business partner, Corey Wickersham, founded WV Art Advisory to connect artists with spaces while uplifting emerging talent. This weekend's events take place at Masterwork Studios, a gallery and event venue owned by Tim Clement and operated through his nonprofit, Artists for Christ and Community. The organization focuses on hosting art-centered events that raise funds for local charities serving the homeless.
Organizers hope both events encourage residents to support Tulsa's creative economy during the holiday season.
