A Caddo Parish jury delivered a unanimous guilty verdict on Thursday, October 30, 2025, against Shreveport resident Brandon Wayne Lindsey, 36, for the second-degree murder of his domestic partner, Heaven Weed. The conviction follows the fatal beating of the 23-year-old woman in March 2023.
The jury, composed of nine women and three men in District Judge Chris Victory's court, deliberated for less than an hour before returning the verdict against Lindsey. The conviction means Lindsey faces a mandatory life sentence at hard labor without the benefit of probation, parole, or suspension of sentence when he returns for sentencing on December 8, 2025.
The case centered on events spanning March 1 and March 2, 2023. Surveillance footage placed Ms. Weed and Lindsey together at a local nightspot in the early hours of March 2. Later that morning, Lindsey was placed at the victim's residence -- where he had been living for about a month -- by vehicle GPS and phone data from 1:30 a.m. until 11:07 a.m. He returned around 11:45 a.m. and remained until the victim's mother arrived home around 8 p.m.

Upon her arrival, Lindsey left, stating, "she's messed up." Ms. Weed's mother found her unconscious and unresponsive and rushed her to Ochsner LSU Health hospital. Ms. Weed was suffering from extensive injuries, including:
Ms. Weed succumbed to her injuries after a week in the hospital. Her organs were donated.
Responding officers who arrived at Ms. Weed's residence noted a strong smell of bleach and other cleaning agents, including Clorox wipes and Fabuloso. Detectives documented blood spatter in the living room, kitchen, and pantry, along with multiple areas where blood appeared to have been wiped away.
Crime scene investigators recovered a mattress topper, pillow, and towel, all containing the victim's blood, from the washing machine. Lindsey's clothing worn the night of the club outing also tested positive for the victim's blood.
During the trial, a previous girlfriend of Lindsey's testified about years of abuse she suffered at his hands, detailing injuries like black eyes, fractured ribs, and a broken jaw. She recounted being dragged by her hair, kicked in the head, and repeatedly struck.
Her testimony included suffering seizures as a result of the abuse and needing dental implants due to damage to her teeth, highlighting a long-standing cycle of violence.
Lindsey also has multiple prior convictions for domestic-related charges in Bossier Parish dating back to 2010.
