IMD Reports Delhi's Air Quality Remains 'Very Poor' with AQI at 319

The India Meteorological Department has forecast thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds over Andaman and Nicobar Islands for today. Similar conditions are expected for the day at isolated places over Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Rajasthan and West Madhya Pradesh.

The Met department has also predicted squally weather over Andaman Sea, parts of the east-central Bay of Bengal and the adjoining northeast Bay of Bengal.

The air quality in Delhi-NCR continues to remain in the very poor category. According to the Central Pollution Control Board, Delhi's air quality index was recorded at 319 at 7 AM. The sub-committee of the Commission for Air Quality Management has already imposed the Graded Response Action Plan- GRAP-2 restrictions in the National Capital Region.

An Air Quality Index between 0 and 50 is considered good, 51 and 100 satisfactory, 101 and 200 moderate, 201 and 300 poor, and 301 and 400 very poor. An AQI between 401 and 450 is considered severe.
