The Resident Electoral Commissioner in Edo State, Prof. Anugbum Onuoha, has led other officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on a road walk campaign to sensitise residents on the imperatives of registering in the ongoing Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) exercise.
Onuoha, who visited the Ramat Park, Ring road, and new Benin market in Benin City, admonished residents who have turned 18 years of age to register and obtain their voter's card.
The REC also advised individuals who have been of age but haven't registered to do so; in order to be eligible to exercise their franchise at the governorship, presidential, and National Assembly elections.
He expressed reservations that the turnout of residents so far for the CVR exercise is not impressive.
The REC cautioned: "If you fail to register, automatically, you fail to vote. We enjoin the people to come out en masse and register for whoever they want to vote for at the elections.
"If you register, your votes will surely count. This registration also includes individuals wanting to transfer voting from one point to another, seek lost or damaged PVC replacement.
"You can also register online and come for biometrics at designated centers."
