Al Ahly Told to part ways with 'unqualified' former Pirates coach Riveiro

Al Ahly have been urged to part ways with head coach José Riveiro after just three matches into the new Egyptian Premier League season.

The pressure mounts as Riveiro has managed only one win from Al Ahly's first three league fixtures.

Former Al Ahly star Ahmed Abu Muslim believes José Riveiro is not the right fit to coach the "Club of the Century."

"Of course, a narrow loss is better than a long run of wins," he said sarcastically. "This coach is simply not qualified to lead Al Ahly, and his own statements prove that. After drawing with Modern Sport, he went to the media and claimed a draw is better than a defeat."

Abu Muslim also argued that the pressure of managing Al Ahly is far greater than anything Riveiro experienced at his previous club, Orlando Pirates.

"Football in South Africa is different. The pressure from fans at Orlando Pirates is not comparable to what he faces at Al Ahly," he said. "There, the style of football matters more than winning titles.

"Orlando Pirates have reached the CAF Champions League final maybe twice in their history. At Al Ahly, the expectation is to reach the final and win it every single time."
