Navi mumbai's citizens forum oppose road repair work amid heavy rain | Mumbai News - The Times of India

Navi Mumbai: Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) commenced repair work of asphalt roads amidst heavy rainfall, contravening established rules and procedures, according to Alert Citizens Forum. This action followed an order by NMMC commissioner to urgently fill potholes on roads during ongoing Ganeshotsav festivities. Photos and videos documenting the road works in front of CIDCO were captured by the Forum and submitted to the administration. Asphalting activities occurred during significant rainfall, raising concerns that repairs failed within days. The Forum has questioned the competence of municipal officials and demands that if the currently blocked roads reopen within a month or two, responsible officials and contractors should undertake repairs at their own expense. Expenses incurred from improper pothole filling should be recuperated from engineers accountable for conducting repairs during adverse weather conditions. Activist Sudhir Dani said taxpayers are suspicious of pothole filling being exploited as means of 'appreciation of funds' leading to deliberate construction of substandard roads.
