This past blustery Monday, the Town of Caledon raised the flag to signify "Love Your Library" Month.
"Caledon Public Library is the heart of our community," says Mayor Annette Groves. "It offers free spaces where people are welcome to come and spend time without having to purchase anything to be there. The library offers free programs that promote social connections and support mental health for teens, adults and seniors. The library supports lifelong learning."
Groves notes that after high school, education becomes expensive and inaccessible to many, but the library offers free access to educational resources, including online courses and programs.

Colleen Lipp, Caledon Public Library's CEO and Chief Librarian, says that Love Your Library Month has grown out of the original Love Your Library Week.
"We decided that one week was not enough in Caledon and we wanted to turn it into a whole month," says Lipp. "It's an opportunity for us to raise awareness of what we do and to celebrate our staff and work with the Town and strengthen that partnership."
Lipp says during October, across the province, there is a celebration of libraries, and in Caledon, they've decided to" shout it from the rooftops."
Laurie Groe, Programming and Outreach Manager with Caledon Public Library, says many programs and initiatives are running during Love Your Library Month.
This month, they will be celebrating their new story times by hosting special sessions at their smaller branches with guest speakers.
They are also celebrating their Community Champions in partnership with their Community Partners.
