Flag flyers mocked in new 'Raise the Colours' game that dodges 'council staff' - Daily Star

A new video game mocking people flying British flags across the UK has been released - and players get to 'dodge council staff' in the satirical missions.

The aim of the game is to avoid the local council, while causing as much disruption for them as possible. The video game was developed in the wake of riots that rocked the UK over the past two summers. Aiming to take a jab at the flag flyers, the game provides a tongue-in-cheek view at some of the damage and destruction caused for several weeks.

Titled 'Raise the Colours', the game takes its name from a huge initiative organised by far-right 'activist' Tommy Robinson. However, players in the game have a much harder time to achieve their goals.

Uploading photos of the gameplay, one user took to their X account - formerly known as Twitter - to share their thoughts of the game. The grabs from the game has split users as many see it as a hilarious jibe at far-right demonstrators, while others slam the decision to paint so-called 'patriots' in a bad light.

Some of the pictures demonstrates how to play the game, showing the user destroying a large van by leaving it under a large patch of grass.

The aim of the game is to raise as many Union Flags as possible in the local area without being caught by the local authorities.

Giving further detail, the game's developer wrote in its description: "'Raise the Colours is a satirical 4-player co-op physics game where you race to paint flags before the timer runs out. Work together (or trip each other up) while dodging pesky council workers who'll do anything to shut down your fun."

Some of the places where avatars can be seen hoisting flags include lampposts, boxes, houses and even T-shirts themselves. However, the council is also hot on their heels - dressed in hi-vis jackets - seemingly ready to counteract the player's actions as they plant flags left, right and centre.

Players have already gotten to sink their teeth into the game after its release on Friday (October 31), and it's already been giving rave reviews to the developers, with one review asking for "more maps" - as well as "other items that could be used to fight back" against the council.

Giving their reaction, some users were thrilled with the new game, with many comparing it to similar satirical games that poke fun at current events. One user joked in the comments section: "I bet the flag s******s are all over this."

Other users were looking forward to buying the game themselves, with one user slyly commenting: "Buying this for my nephew." While a second threw their own comments in, adding: "If it was on Mac, I'd be all over it."

However, some other users were not as enthralled with the premise of the game and fumed their discontent at such a game being made. "Looks like absolute s***e," wrote one disgruntled commenter.

Another user was also not thrilled with the concept, as they mocked people who committed the crimes in real life. "Lol, reduced to flag s****ing in video games!" they fumed while adding crying-with-laughter emojis.

Currently, the game is available to buy on online gaming service Steam. However, the game currently is only able to be downloaded onto Android and Windows devices.
