The Pymore Inn at Pymore near Bridport is gearing up for an ambitious Christmas event to officially kick off the festive celebrations in the village.
On Sunday November 30, the spacious beer garden will be transformed into a winter wonderland with the ancient tree standing in the grounds being decked with 1,000 festive bulbs which will glow for the first time that evening.

The pine, which stands just shy of 100 ft tall, according to landlord Alex Marshall, is reportedly higher than the 65ft Oslo tree which will take centre stage in Trafalgar Square this year, as is typically gifted to the country every year from Norway to as a gesture of thanks for Britain's support during the Second World War.
The switch on ceremony could be the most extravagant in west Dorset this year, and Mayor of Bridport, Cllr Anne Rickard, will be there to turn on the dazzling display to officially launch Christmas at the pub.
There will also be a performance of carols from Dorset based choir Local Vocals, and mulled wine and mince pies.

Mr Marshall, said: "It's been our ambition to get the Christmas tree illuminated for the last three years. The Pymore Inn is pulling out all the stops for a busy festive season with several Christmas events including tributes to Elton John and Adele as well as more traditional Christmas parties with a fresh, locally sourced seasonal menu throughout December."
As previously reported, in August the Pymore Inn won the Pub Garden Award 2025 from The West Dorset Campaign for Real Ale.
Ahead of the event, Mayor of Bridport, Cllr Anne Rickard said: "I am very pleased to have been invited to be part of the 'turning on of the tree lights' at The Pymore Inn on Sunday.
"I am sure there will be a huge crowd, all cheering in the coming Christmas season. The Pymore Inn has a reputation for good food and drink, and have some Christmas goodies on offer - mulled wine, mulled cider and mince pies have been mentioned - sounds good to me!"
