Netanyahu summons defense minister and IDF chief for conversation following public spat
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu summoned Defense Minister Israel Katz and Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir for a conversation to be held on Tuesday, following a public confrontation between the two officials.
Zamir criticized Katz's decision on Monday to freeze military appointments for 30 days, saying it could hurt the army, adding that he "will continue to hold meetings about appointments according to plan, in line with his authority and will submit them for the minister's approval as needed."
Zamir added that he learned of Katz's decision to impose a freeze "this morning from the media."
After Zamir published his statement, Katz retorted that he "appreciates the chief of staff, who knows well that he is subservient to the prime minister, to the defense minister and to the government of Israel." He added he didn't "intend to wrangle in the media."
