Chocolate lover opens tub of Celebrations but is floored by discovery inside - Manchester Evening News

A chocolate enthusiast purchased a tub of Celebrations but was left questioning whether the contents in their box was "normal". Overindulgence in chocolate is a common occurrence during the festive season, with everyone having their preferred sweet treat.

Whether you're partial to Cadbury's Heroes or Roses, Nestlé's Quality Street or Mars' Celebrations, there's something to suit all tastes. Even within the individual tubs of chocolates, people have their favourites.

Celebrations offer miniature versions and variations of eight popular chocolate bars: Galaxy, Galaxy caramel, Maltesers Teasers, Twix, Mars, Snickers and Bounty.

Despite the variety, it appears that one chocolate consistently stands out as the most popular choice for many. The much-loved Maltesers Teaser is often hailed as the best of the bunch, leading some to speculate that there are fewer of them than any other.

One chocolate lover took to Reddit to share their findings after emptying their Celebrations tub and grouping each type of chocolate together to clearly display the quantity of each.

They found seven Mars bars, four Twixes, eight Milky Ways, seven Bountys, six Snickers, five Galaxy Caramels, two regular Galaxys and three Malteser Teasers, totalling 42 mini chocolates.

In their post, they queried: "Is this normal Celebration's distribution?" They further explained: "This is the ratio of chocolates in a Celebrations tub I was just given - is this normal?

"Like any other rational human, I prefer the Galaxy (normal and caramel) and the greatest of them all: the Malteser. I am dissatisfied!"

In the comments section, fellow chocolate enthusiasts were eager to share their views. One said: "When you lay it out like that, it's absolutely nothing in those things".

Another person quipped: "Next year you will find the tubs in the frisbee section". A third confessed: "Don't feel so bad about ploughing through a full box alone a few weeks ago now."

A fourth lamented: "This is absolutely tragic as the Malteser is the far superior choccy." Another person shared a snapshot of their Celebrations selection from Christmas 2021.

They had 71 miniature chocolates in their tub, eight of which were the sought-after Malteser Teaser. However, someone else had better fortune with their 2025 tub.

They posted an image of their selection and stated: "I feel we got a much better distribution! Also couldn't help but notice we had 54 to OP's 42! 7 or 8 each for Milky Way, Mars, Bounty, Twix and Snickers. Then 5 each for both types of Galaxy and of course the Malteaser!"

A spokesperson for Mars Wrigley UK commented: "We know each and every chocolate is delicious to someone. That's why the Celebrations mix has been carefully designed by our chocolate experts since 1994, to make it perfect for sharing with friends and family, no matter their favourites.

"We will always absorb pricing pressures where we can, but rising manufacturing costs - driven in part by well-documented increases in the cost of cocoa - have meant that we've had to adjust the size of our Celebrations tubs.

"It's not a decision we take lightly, but it ensures families can still enjoy their favourite mix of Celebrations without compromising on quality or taste."
