New Hanover Outreach Clinic welcomes dental patients for first time since move into new building - WWAYTV3

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Months after moving into their new building in Wilmington, the New Hanover Outreach Clinic helped dental patients for the first time on Wednesday.

Formerly located in a building owned by St Mary's Basilica, the clinic moved out following a long battle with the church over the space it utilized.

The clinic is now located at 1375 S 16th Street.

The purchase of the building was covered by a $695,000 grant from the New Hanover Community Endowment, with most of the equipment moved from the old location.

Executive director Laura Vinson said support from the community has been strong.

"It's been overwhelming and uplifting to know that we have so many people in New Hanover County and surrounding counties that follow our story, that kept up with us, that knew what we were going through," Vinson said.

The new building has central heating and air conditioning, which the clinic's previous location lacked.

It also has larger bays for patients to receive treatment.
