WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - A body has been found in a retention pond near the New Hanover County Pine Valley Library, according to a spokesperson with the Wilmington Police Department (WPD).
According to WPD, the body was in the pond for "an extended amount of time." The remains will be sent for an autopsy to gather more details.
The identity of the victim has not been disclosed at this time.
The New Hanover County Public Library posted on its Facebook page that the branch is temporarily closed.
