'General Hospital' Alum Roger Howarth Joins 'The Young and the Restless' in Surprise Move: 'I'm a Lucky Guy'

Howarth is no stranger to the soap world, having starred on One Life to Live, As the World Turns and, most recently, General Hospital

The longtime soap actor, 56, is joining The Young and the Restless in a yet-to-be-announced role for a major storyline arc this fall, PEOPLE confirmed.

Howarth will begin taping in mid-September, with his debut coming later this year.

Deadline was the first to report the news.

The actor shared a selfie of himself showing a "Y" and "R" in American Sign Language on Thursday, Aug. 28.

"Excited and appreciative... I'm a lucky guy...," he captioned the post.

After appearing on Loving and Guiding Light in 1992, the actor booked his first major role on One Life to Live, playing Todd Manning.

He would go on to play this part on and off in years-long chunks until 2013, and earned a Daytime Emmy in the now-defunct Outstanding Younger Leading Actor in a Drama Series category in 1994.

During one of his larger breaks from One Life to Live, he starred on As the World Turns from 2003 to 2010 in the Emmy-nominated role of Paul Ryan.

Rounding out his soap experience, Howarth played several roles on General Hospital from 2012 to 2023. He first played Todd Manning, then Franco Baldwin and finally he played Austin Gatlin-Holt.
