After a secret church ceremony away from the public eye, the son of Eddie Murphy, Eric Murphy, and the daughter of Martin Lawrence, Jasmin Lawrence, are officially married.
Eddie appeared on the Jennifer Hudson Show to announce that the couple has officially wed.
According to Eddie, the wedding was intentionally private, allowing the couple to be married in an intimate setting without public knowledge. They married in a small church with no audience, just the couple and the preacher. Eddie suggested that there would be a party for the newlyweds with both of their families.
The couple got engaged last year on November 27, and they publicly announced their engagement via Instagram, where they shared a sweet video of their candle-lit proposal, set to the song "Spend My Life With You" by Eric Benet. In the video, Eric is seen decorating the room; then it cuts to him popping the question to Jasmin, where she answers with an excited "Yes!" followed by the couple sharing a kiss.
Many assumed that the couple met through their famous fathers, as Eddie and Martin have worked together on two films. But Jasmin was quick to deny this in an interview.
"It wasn't even our dads, and they've done two movies together; they're friends," she said. "We became good friends because we bonded on a lot of things, and over time, it just became more."
In her Instagram caption announcing her engagement, Jasmine shared more details about the love the two share.
"We're engaged!! God truly blessed us with a love that feels like destiny. We couldn't be more excited for this next chapter ❤️❤️Special thank you to everyone who made this moment so beautiful!!"
The exact start of their relationship is unknown, but they debuted their relationship on social media in June 2021.
