North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has taken his daughter on her first official overseas trip to Beijing.
When Kim disembarked from his private train in the Chinese capital on Tuesday, the young girl was seen closely by his side in official photos from the North Korean news agency KCNA.
According to reports, she also participated, along with Kim's sister Kim Yo Jong, in the celebrations surrounding the military parade marking the 80th anniversary of Japan's surrender and the end of World War II.
Observers have been speculating for some time whether Kim might be positioning his daughter as a potential successor. However, little is known about the young girl so far. Neither her age nor her name has been officially confirmed by North Korean state media.
According to former basketball professional Dennis Rodman, who met Kim personally in North Korea in 2013, his daughter is said to be named "Ju Ae."
For about three years, the girl has been regularly accompanying the North Korean leader on official appointments - first in 2022 during the test of an intercontinental missile. Since then, she has been seen at dozens of events, mostly directly by her father's side.
