National statistical rankings for West Virginia football: Week 8

Eight weeks in, the numbers show just how far West Virginia has slipped after another tough loss, falling 45-13 at UCF to drop to 2-5 overall and 0-4 in Big 12 play.

The Mountaineers remain solid on the ground, ranking 33rd nationally in rushing offense, but struggles through the air and in finishing drives continue to limit production. WVU ranks 98th in total offense and 124th in passing offense, while sitting 110th in scoring offense. Red zone efficiency remains one of the few bright spots, at 19th nationally.

Defensively, the Mountaineers continue to give up too many big plays and rank near the bottom nationally in total and scoring defense. The lone positive remains on third down, where WVU's defense ranks 30th. Overall, consistency and tackling remain the biggest issues heading into this weekend's home matchup against TCU.
