A Good Morning Britain star announced the death of a soap legend on Monday (October 27) as he paid an emotional tribute.
During today's edition of the hit ITV programme, hosts Charlotte Hawkins and Ed Balls updated viewers on the latest news from across the UK and around the world.
Sean Fletcher handled the rest of the day's news, while Laura Tobin delivered regular weather forecasts live from a pumpkin farm.
Later in the show, Charlotte and Ed were joined in the studio by entertainment reporter Richard Arnold, who had some "sad news" to share.
"Some rather sad news to wake up to this morning. Actor Tony Adams has passed away. Best known, of course, for his role Adam Chance in the soap opera Crossroads," he revealed.
"He starred in an extraordinary 4,500 episodes from 1978 to 1988. Now, Tony returned to the role in 2001, you may remember, when the show was brought back and he had a cameo in 2023's ITV series Nolly."
Richard added: "Tony died in Brighton at the age of 84, with his wife by his side. And our sympathies are with his family."
