'One of the best horror movies' with a Chitty Chitty Bang Bang legend airs today

The 10 best horror films of the '90s ranked - Silence of the Lambs not number 1

A timeless horror masterpiece boasting a near-flawless Rotten Tomatoes rating of 96% arrives on screens today to celebrate Halloween 2025.

The black and white supernatural chiller Dead of Night follows architect Walter Craig (played by Mervyn Johns) as he visits Pilgrim's Farm for a business appointment.

However, upon arriving, Walter experiences an unsettling feeling of déjà vu and discovers he has previously dreamt about every person he encounters at the property.

The anthology horror unfolds as he discusses the peculiar occurrences from these dreams, with each individual confessing to having witnessed "a strange and unexplainable event" themselves.

Despite being released eight decades ago, Dead of Night continues to captivate horror enthusiasts, who can catch the film today, Friday, October 31, at 4.45pm on Film4.
