Birmingham City beat off competition to re-sign Demarai Gray from Al-Ettifaq during the summer transfer window
Demarai Gray had a multitude of options during the summer when he decided to leave Saudi Arabian side Al-Ettifaq - but he was only ever going to join Birmingham City.
The Birmingham-born winger returned to his boyhood club on a three-year contract in July after Blues negotiated a deal with Al-Ettifaq.
It was a no-brainer for Gray, whose son has signed up to Blues' academy, despite interest from an unnamed Premier League club.
"I met with a Premier League team and some teams abroad. It was just Birmingham," said Gray.
"I had other options if I wanted to take them but Birmingham was my first choice. Where the club are going, ambitions-wise, makes it even better. I'm happy with my decision and it was the only one I was going to make. I want to take the team as far as I can.
"This is my club and I grew up here, every time I put the shirt on I want to give 100 percent and deliver.
"I've got a great bunch of lads around me, staff included, so everyone helps me but on a personal level I'm here to show that I've not just come back to come back, I'm here to help the team progress."
Gray has featured in all 16 of Blues' Championship games this season and recorded two assists in the 4-1 thumping of Norwich City at the weekend.
The 29-year-old has seven goal contributions across all competitions and is thirsty for more going into the busy festive period.
"I think over the last four or five games I've not quite been at the level I want to be at, but (Norwich) was good," admits Gray. "I want to contribute assists and goals, that's my game."
