Des Moines airport resumes air travel after plane slid of runway Saturday

DES MOINES, Iowa -- The Des Moines International Airport has resumed flights after a Delta Connection flight slid off the runway Saturday night.

Airport officials say the incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. Saturday when a Delta Flight from Detroit, Michigan, to Des Moines left the paved surface from the runway to the taxiway. There were not injuries, according to airport officials.

The Des Moines International Airport posted on X at 11:37 a.m. Sunday saying, "The airfield is now open and operations have resumed. We appreciate everyone's patience. For the most up-to-date information on your flight, please check your airline's mobile app."

As of 1 p.m. the Des Moines Airport's website showed over two dozen flights arriving and departing through the rest of Sunday, however, several flights remain listed as delayed or cancelled.
