LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Southern California is experiencing a summer surge of COVID-19 cases.
According to the state department of public health, the number of cases has risen in recent weeks.
California has "high" levels of coronavirus in wastewater, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The Los Angeles Times reports that some local health officials are again urging people to wear masks in public indoor settings while the surge continues.
The CDC also reports that COVID-19 activity is increasing in many areas of the country. Wastewater data in the U.S. estimates "moderate" COVID-19 activity.
